Every year about this time, I have to cue this one up. Classic from Eumir Deodato, leading the band playing keys with John Tropea on guitar, Stanley Clarke/Ron Carter on bass, Billy Cobham playing drums, and Airto playing percussion. Recorded in 1972, 'Prelude' is Deodato's first album for CTI records. Incorporating electric bass, piano and guitar, and teaming up with CTI musicians like Billy Cobham anchoring the drums gave this album a new sound that set itself apart from Deodatos' older recordings.
