Some of Fairey's work here..
For me this kind of thing brings up the thought that, why didn't they use some of that space to do something big to really show how they felt? I mean, I'm not a huge fan of Fairey or anything here, and I know that's not even a tear in the bucket for how many of these pieces of his are floating around, but if you're going to dis someone's work, you should show you got something to back it.
If I had a dollar for every time I've seen some kids walking around with the 'propaganda' t shirts or some kind of Obey apparel.. I have to laugh and wonder, do they know what they're representing or did they just grab a random tee at Sears or wherever? It's funny to me, how big the whole obey thing got and how there's never a lack of ignorant people that unknowingly play themselves. But it kind of seems like the jokes on them, and Fairey's got the last laugh all the way to the bank.
I can't really judge and laugh at people rocking his shit, cause they're just doing their thing, and I can't be mad at the man either for doing his. Whether Fairey sold out or not, I can't call it.. but regardless what anyone says, he put in a lot of work over the years. Here's some of the old roll ups.
